“LUIGI CHERUBINI” YOUTH ORCHESTRA AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT
FOR THE 2022-2025 THREE-YEAR PERIOD FOREWORD

The “Luigi Cherubini” Youth Orchestra Foundation is a private, non-profit organisation, whose articles of incorporation specifically define its aim as the promotion and implementation of higher-education specialisation courses for young orchestra musicians, with a view to their professional training, growth and development.

Such training also involves the production of full concerts and opera events in which the selected young musicians will perform. The rehearsal and performance of such programmes will most often take place under Riccardo Muti, the Orchestra’s promoter and Music Director.

Qualified Candidates will engage in alternating periods of training and public performance. They will be hired on a fixed-term, part-time contract subject to Italian Labour regulations (i.e., the national labour contract for the artistic personnel of Civic Theatres).

Clause 1 – AUDITION OPENINGS

            The “Luigi Cherubini” Youth Orchestra Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the “Foundation”) announces auditions for the following positions in the Orchestra during the 2022-2025 three-year period:

section violin and potential concertmaster (of the first and second sections)

timpani

Clause 2 – CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Audition requirements are as follows:

  1. a) applicants must hold passports from one of the EU member countries;
  2. b) applicants must be entitled to full civil and political rights;
  3. c) applicants must be aged between 18 and 27 at the closing date for application (i.e., their date of birth must be between 21 April 1994 and 20 April 2004);
  4. d) applicants must hold either a first-level diploma or an “old-system” diploma in the musical instrument for which they apply, obtained from an Italian State Conservatory/accredited Musical Institute, or from an equivalent foreign College or Institute.

All the above requirements must be met by the closing date for application.

Clause 3 – APPLICATION

Candidates must submit their application to the audition no later than 20 April 2022.
At the end of the application procedure, an e-mail will be sent to confirm the correct registration to the audition. Hand-delivered, faxed, mailed, or e-mailed applications will not be accepted. The Foundation accepts no responsibility for any technical and/or computer problems that prevent the timely receipt of applications.

By submitting the application, Candidates acknowledge that they have read, understood, and unconditionally accepted the contents of this Announcement.

All applications from past effective members of the Orchestra will be rejected.

Clause 4 – AUDITIONS

Auditions will take place in two distinct steps (preliminary and final live auditions), at the summer headquarters of the “Luigi Cherubini” Youth Orchestra Foundation in Ravenna, in the Teatro Alighieri, Via Angelo Mariani, 2. Dates and times will be sent by email.

Auditions will tentatively begin in May 2022. Candidates failing to show up at the audition will be excluded. No indemnity or refund shall be acknowledged for travelling expenses, accommodation, accompanying pianist or other.

An accompanying pianist will be provided by the Foundation.

 

Clause 5 – INFORMATION ON THE TREATMENT OF PERSONAL DATA

Articles 13-14 of the GDPR 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation)

In accordance with article 13 of the 2016/679 EU Regulation, concerning the information provided by the applicants and for the protection of the persons and other subjects with regard to the processing of personal data, we wish to inform you that:

 

Purposes of the processing

The data provided will be used with a view to and the aim of the management of the selection procedures relevant to the present Announcement.

For the aims described in this Policy, the Foundation disposes of the common personal data (first name, last name, address, phone number, e-mail, and other addresses) which will be subject to a treatment based on principles of fairness, lawfulness, transparency, and protection of your confidentiality and your rights. Your personal data will be processed for the entire duration of the auditions.

The lawfulness of the processing is based on the express consent of the interested party, expressed in written form.

Processing methods

The processing of your personal data will be carried out on paper and using information technology and telematics devices, with logic strictly related to the purposes described and with adequate methods to protect the security and confidentiality in accordance with the provisions of the art. 32, GDPR.

Provision of data

The provision of data for the purposes described above is compulsory for all that is required by the auditions process; therefore, the possible refusal to provide the data – in whole or in part – can result in the impossibility for the Foundation to accept the application itself.

Communication and dissemination of data 

The provided data shall not be subject to communication nor dissemination, but only to use for internal purposes as described above.

Data controller

The data controller of the personal data is the “Luigi Cherubini” Youth Orchestra Foundation, Via Verdi n. 41, 29121 Piacenza, Italy.

Responsible for processing the data is the legal representative pro tempore.

Rights of the interested party

At any time and in accordance to articles from 15 to 22 of the 2016/679 UE Regulation, you may exercise the right to:

  1. request confirmation of the existence or otherwise of personal data;
  2. obtain information on the purposes of the processing, the categories of personal data, recipients, or categories of recipients to whom the personal data have been or will be communicated and, where possible, the retention period;
  3. obtain the correction and deletion of data;
  4. obtain the treatment limitation;
  5. obtain data portability, i.e. to receive them from a data controller, in a structured format, commonly used and readable by an automatic device, and transmit them to another data controller without hindrance;
  6. oppose the processing at any time and also in the case of treatment for direct marketing purposes;
  7. oppose an automated decision-making process concerning individuals, including profiling;
  8. ask the data controller to access personal data and to rectify or cancel them or limit their processing or to oppose their processing, in addition to the right to data portability;
  9. withdraw the consent at any time without prejudice to the lawfulness of the treatment based on the consent given prior to the revocation;
  10. propose a complaint to the Guarantor for the protection of personal data.
